This is an advertisement for the Yuen Chong Market, published in the delta Herald on March 20, 1946. Notice that chuck pot roast was 29¢ a pound.
This building was located on 13927 River Road (13928 Main Street) between Yuen Chong Market and Wah Lee Dry Goods and Hardware Store. Upstairs was a boardinghouse; downstairs was a brothel. The building burned down in 1984, and the site is now a memorial park dedicated to the Chinese who built the railroad, levees, and the town of Locke and established California agriculture.
